Honda’s CR-V Wins Big with Motor Trend Recognition
Each year, Motor Trend, an influential automotive magazine, reviews all of the top vehicles and selects a winner in each vehicle segment. This year, the competition was especially tight in the SUV segment, which is traditionally the most competitive class of vehicle. Ten different judges tested over 35 different SUVs to experience every aspect of the vehicles. It was Honda and their CR-V that stood out to the judges after all of the testing. The Honda CR-V, one of America’s most popular SUVs, was proud to receive the title of Motor Trend SUV of the Year!
According to Alisa Priddle, a Motor Trend editor, “Honda made sure it kept its crown jewel ahead of the field by paying attention to a wide range of details. Others might excel in certain fields, but others don’t put the whole package together the way the CR-V does.”
According to Motor Trend, this is only the second time the CR-V has won the title of SUV of the Year in the 20-year history of the award. The first time the CR-V took the title was in 2015, right after a redesign of the vehicle. Now, three years later, the title returns to the CR-V by edging out the Alfa Romeo Stelvio by a single vote.
One of the primary reasons the CR-V took home the title is the impressive advancement of the vehicle’s design. Similar to other recent Honda models, the new CR-V looks bigger and receives a more “heavy-handed” styling, according to Motor Trend. On the inside, the judges applauded the automaker for designing one of the most luxurious interiors for the CR-V to date. The judges also commented on the careful and deliberate consideration and execution of the CR-V’s design that places everything from the audio controls to the infotainment screen easily within reach.
This isn’t the first time the popular SUV has been recognized by a panel of judges for its unique and understated excellence. The vehicle, which has a variety of new options both in the cabin and the engine, has received several top recognitions including, but not limited to:
- One of Kelley Blue Book’s 12 Best Family Cars of 2018
- Five Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)*
- A 2018 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
- Named 2015 Best Compact SUV for the Money by US News
